Instant Microwave Peda / Pera (Indian Sweet )

Peda is a popular Indian sweet.It was first originated in Uttarpradesh (A state of northern part of India), later it  spread to different parts of India.The taste of peda differs from region to region in India.The main ingredients of peda is mewa or khoya (evaporated milk), but today I am sharing a quick, easy peda recipe using condensed milk and milk powder.Here I made it in microwave, if you want you can make it on gas stove also.

~~~~~~~~~~
Condensed milk-1tin (400 grams) or 2 tins (each 200 grams)
Milk powder-1.5 cup
Ghee or clarified butter-1 tablespoon
Cardamom powder -1 pinch
Saffron-1 pinch
Kewra essence-2 drops
Method
~~~~~~~

  • Take a microwave proof  deep bowl, pour condensed milk in it and add milk powder.
  • Mix well with hand whisker or a fork, make sure  they are well combined without forming any lumps.
  • Put the bowl in the microwave and microwave on high power for 1 minute.
  • Remove from microwave and give a quick stir.
  • Add cardamom powder,saffron and kewra essence in the mixture and mix well.
  • Place this back in the microwave and microwave for another one minute on high power.
  •  Now take it out of the microwave and give a stir, if you see it still has some moisture  or looks little liquid just microwave for  another 30 seconds or 1 minute  (but you have to check every 30 seconds as cooking timings vary microwave to microwave.
  • How would you know that your Peda mixture is ready? When your mixture is cooked, you will notice that it’s become something like crumbled Khoa/Mawa.
  • Let the mixture be cool, grease your hands with some ghee.
  • Divide the mixture equally into small lemon sized balls.
  • Then flatten  each ball gently pressing  by your hands to give a shape of peda. Make a small hole in the center by pressing your little finger.You make some design using fork but this is optional.
  • Tastes best after few hours of making it.
  • You  can store in a air tight box in the refrigerator  for 4 -5 days.
